About Edmond

Edmond is just north of Oklahoma City and is considered not only one of the best places to live in Oklahoma, but also in the country. CNN's Money Magazine ranked Edmond as one of the top 100 places to live in the country for 2012. Even more impressive, Edmond was ranked #1 by CNBC's 10 perfect suburbs list in 2011!

Edmond is considered a family city, but offers something for everyone. Edmond boasts excellent dining options, outstanding hotels, unique shopping in the quaint downtown area, public art, and professional level golf courses. Specifically Edmond is minutes from the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder pro basketball team, the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, and Remington Park Horse Track.

Edmond has done a lot to incorporate statues, murals, and stained glass artwork in the Main Street area of downtown. Check it out if taking a stroll to do some shopping or visiting one of the many restaurant options in Edmond.

You can also find nature sites and parks in Edmond. Arcadia Lake provides for swimming, boating, hiking, camping, and bird watching. Frontier City theme park includes roller coasters, gunfighter stunt shows and other types of entertainment. There are a variety of options for fitness in Edmond including walking and biking trails, ice skating facilities, soccer fields, and tennis courts.

Edmond offers exceptional educational opportunities for both children and adults. The school systems rank as some of the highest in the state. Edmond school districts score well above the state and national average in the ACT Composite Test averaging a score of 23.4. In addition, there are 113 Edmond Public School educators that hold the distinction of being named National Board Certified Teachers. Finally, higher education opportunities are available at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

As far as a safe place to live, Edmond is one of the safest in the country. Edmond is the 11th safest city in the United States for cities about 75,000 in population when comparing violent crime rates. The Edmond police department encourages active participation by the community. They conduct crime prevention and personal safety education offerings, and also provide school resource officers.
